On 4–5 March 2026, the ENTICE consortium gathered in Milan for a two-day partner meeting hosted by CMCC, bringing together project partners to review progress, align ongoing work, and discuss upcoming priorities.
The meeting opened with a joint welcome from E3 Modelling (E3M) and CMCC, followed by an overview of project developments across the core work packages. Partners presented progress made so far within WP1–WP4, covering key research activities related to framing the Trade–Climate–Industry nexus, improving data and empirical foundations, and advancing modelling approaches to better capture the environmental impacts of trade.
A dedicated session was also held on WP6, led by Holistic, focusing on communication, dissemination, exploitation, and capacity-building activities. Discussions highlighted upcoming outreach priorities and ways to strengthen engagement with stakeholders and wider audiences.
The first day continued with in-depth work package sessions on WP1 (theoretical framing, public perceptions, and policy needs) and WP2 (improved data and empirics), followed by a workshop linked to Task 3.3, run by the University of Verona and the University of Southampton. The day concluded with a walk around Milan's Navigli district, offering partners an informal opportunity to connect and exchange ideas.
On the second day, partners discussed ongoing work under WP3 and WP4, focusing on modelling improvements and analysis of trade-related climate and environmental impacts. A key cross-cutting session addressed how ENTICE connects to current political and policy developments, including evolving NDC discussions, EU industrial policy initiatives, and global trade dynamics.
The meeting closed with a coordination session led by E3M, focusing on next steps and preparations for the first reporting period.
The Milan partner meeting marked an important milestone in ensuring shared understanding across the consortium and maintaining alignment as ENTICE moves into its next phase of implementation.
